Childhood Obesity Statistics show that:

The remarkable rise in childhood obesity among children is the most critical public health challenge we face today. Despite widespread attention to the problem, the number of kids who are overweight is still growing. The obesity rise is projected to rise 20 percent by 2010, according to (Orange County Register.) According to the CDC, obesity is a major public health concern in the United States. CDC statistics indicate that between 1980 and 2002, the proportion of children and adolescents ages 6 through 19 who were overweight more than tripled. Obesity now affects over 15 percent of children and adolescents and more than 10 percent of children ages, two through five are overweight. Children and adolescents who are overweight are at an increased risk for heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and social discrimination that can lead to poor self-esteem and depression.
